RCD organized a specialized workshop entitled (Investment and Its Role in the Reform of the Iraqi Economy), which was attended by Mr. Dara Yara, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Municipalities and Reconstruction, Dr. Mazhar Mohammed Salih, Financial Advisor to the Prime Minister, Mr. Majid Jabir, Inspector General of the Ministry of Municipalities and Reconstruction, Mr. Loay Al-Yasiri, Governor of Najaf, and Mr. Majid Zaini, Chairman of the Provincial Council, in addition to a group of economists, officials, academics, businessmen and specialists in the field of investment and sustainable development. In the meeting, which took place with a great media coverage, it has been talking about the importance of investment and its role in the restoration of Iraqi economic reality by reducing dependence on oil as a basic resource for the budget, and provide employment opportunities for Iraqi youth. The meeting dealt with some of obstacles and problems facing the Iraqi investment reality, such as administrative corruption, bureaucracy, lack of clarity of legislation relating to investment in terms of understanding and application, the problem of centralized decisions that delay the implementation of projects, in addition to the multiple bodies reviewed by the investor. The workshop concluded with a set of important recommendations for the development of the investment process, which will be submitted to the concerned authorities in the public interest.

It is worth mentioning that this workshop is not the first to be organized by RCD, but was preceded by many workshops in various fields. However, RCD has always supported state institutions in building itself through effective dialogue among elites to build the prosperous nation that all Iraqis dream to be in.
