RCD organized a panel discussion at the European Institute of Peace at its headquarters in Brussels. The meeting, which was attended by Martin Griffiths, the Chief Executive Officer of the Institute, and its Board members, spoke about a range of themes related to extremist ideology and its role in the escalation of violence and fueling conflict in the Middle East in particular. Mr. Zaid Al-Talaqani, president of RCD, pointed out the role to be played by Governments and civic organizations to counter this ideology by negotiating and cultivating a culture of dialogue to bring the views closer.
