RCD welcomes a delegation from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) where they received by Louay Al-Yasiri, the Governor of Najaf, and number of academics, activists and some officials in the province. There was an extensive debate about the announcement by Kurdistan Regional Government of its intention to hold a referendum on the declaration of the Kurdish state in the next September. Mr. Shwan Mohammed Taha, head of the delegation and the official of the fifth branch of Kurdistan Democratic Party, stressed that the right of "self-determination" is a legitimate right for all, describing it as " it will give stability to the Kurdish people." While most of attendees did not agree with him for many considerations, concerning time and circumstance in which such a fateful decision can be taken. The attendees considered that the crises occurred between the central government and the regional one are temporary and solvable crises through dialogue and  local or international mediation, and have no impact on the depth of social and historical relations between the Arab and Kurds peoples.

However, there were friendly debates during the meeting. Where the guests stated that Mr. Masoud BArzani, the President of the Kurdistan Region, had always stressed the strategic depth of the Kurdish people with the Iraqi people. Many positive attitudes were also recalled, reflecting the relationship between the Kurd and the city of Najaf, which was reflected in the fatwas of the Grand Ayatollah calling for the injection of blood and the promotion of love and harmony among the components of the Iraqi people.
