Intellectual Symposium:" Independence Referendum; Part of a Regional Plan to Dismantle Iraq" by Jawad Al-Hindawi, the Iraqi Ambassador
Al Rafidain Center for Dialogue RCD received Dr. Jawad Al-Hindawi, the Iraqi Ambassador in Brussels, in an intellectual symposium, attended by a group of political and academic figures in Iraq. The symposium was about a range of local and international axes, where Dr. Al-Hindawi compared the mechanism of forming the government in the Iraq with its counterparts in the European Union states, considering that it is based on participation and electoral merit and not on the quotas adopted by political parties. The ambassador also expressed his personal fears of the decision of the Iraqi Kurdistan government to conduct an independence referendum, considering it as a part of a major plan driven by regional and international powers that want to divide dismantle Iraq into states and limit its role in the region. Attendees stressed the importance of Iraq to strengthen its regional and international relations, relying on its deep civilizational heritage in the region and the recent victories against ISIS.
