A Delegation of RCD Meets with Representatives of Spanish Foreign Ministry and Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Madrid, Rome
After the big successes of RCD at the political, research and partnership levels, and as part of its preparations to hold RCD Forum, that seeks to build bridges of communication and integration with international governmental and non-governmental organizations, Mr. Zaid Talaqani, Chairman of RCD and the accompanying delegation met with Nicholas Diaz-Pache, the Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the Ministry's headquarters in Madrid.
The delegation met with the Ambassador Michele Tommasi, Head of the Programming and Analyzing Unit at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome, who expressed a great desire to open horizons of cooperation with RCD, including the grant of visas to Iraqi academics and researchers. Mr. Tommasi confirmed his attendance and participation in the next forum in Baghdad.
Mr. Diaz-Pache spoke about the Spanish role in Iraq and the region and how Spain contributed to the fight terrorism through the presence of a Spanish force alongside the Iraqi armed forces, adding that Spain is keen to see security and stability in the Middle East with the existence of common economic interests, and the world is worried about the Iran-US crisis. He concluded that by praising the role of Iraq in containing that crisis.
Al-Talaqani gave the representatives of the Spanish and Italian Foreign Ministries a detailed explanation about the work of RCD and its objectives in reaching common understandings in the Middle East and consolidating the principle of trust through serious and constructive dialogue, stressing the role of the international community in supporting the democratic and political experiment in Iraq through coordination and intensification of meetings and forums in cooperation with leading research centers and institutions in this field as it has a larger area of government institutions in the implementation of development program.
He also stressed the role of EU countries in containing the US-Iran crisis in coordination with Iraq because of its strategic importance in the region and the overlap of vital interests among the regional neighbors.
