RCD Holds a Symposium on Iraqi-Lebanese Relations with the Presence of Lebanese Ambassador to Iraq
Al-Rafidain Center for Dialogue RCD held a symposium titled "Iraqi-Lebanese Relations: Present and Future" at Sergio de Mello Hall in its headquarters in Najaf, where Mr. Ali Adib Al-Habhab, the Lebanese Ambassador to Iraq hosted in attendance of a number of political, academic and cultural figures. The history of the relationship between Iraq and Lebanon, the ties between the two brotherly peoples and means of strengthening those relations in line with the aspirations of the two countries were discussed by the Ambassador, who expressed the keenness of the Lebanese government to develop the cooperation with Iraq at all levels, including the cultural and scientific aspects in both countries.
The ambassador said that the cooperation between Iraqi and Lebanese peoples included areas of economic cooperation through the agreement of trade liberalization between the two countries and the activation of Kirkuk-Tripoli oil pipeline as well as the security field, also the judicial cooperation agreement were concluded. He added that there are special relations on religious levels, and channels of communication with " Religious Authority " in Najaf as well as the common links between the Eastern and Western churches in Baghdad and Beirut.
Al-Habhab praised the political relations between the two sides and the progress witnessed by the movement of individuals between the two countries. He also praised the efforts exerted by RCD to develop and establish cultural communication programs between the intellectual and research institutions in Iraq and Lebanon.
