RCD Organizes a Seminar Entitled "Amendment of the Constitution as a Prelude for Comprehensive Reform"
RCD has organized a seminar entitled "Amendment of the constitution as a prelude for comprehensive reform" at Al-Salam Hall in Najaf. The seminar was attended by Mr. Diaya Al-Shukraji with the participation of a group of politicians and academics. Mr. Al-Shukraji gave a detailed explanation of the draft amendment to the 2005 Constitution, as he presented an initiative entitled "Constitution of the State of Citizenship for a Secular Democratic State".
In the seminar, Dr. Abdul Amir Zahid, head of RCD Advisory Committee, said that most of the failures in the political process were the result of the poor performance of politicians and incompetent. He added that we are seeking to achieve the desired civil state, which is based on democracy and committed to its principles.
The researcher added that the constitution of 2005 was approved by Iraqi people through a free popular referendum, and it was drafted by an elected group of Iraqi specialists. It represented the requirements of a certain stage that must be overcame, and the future generations should not be bounded by the will of one generation. He pointed out that the constitution should be consistent with the principles of the modern state through the comprehensive amendment initiative provided that it does not affect the constants of religion through its details, and increase the momentum of discussions, promotion, and listening to different opinions to reach a unified vision that may take a long time to crystallize and then apply.
