As part of its series of discussion sessions, RCD held a symposium entitled "The Political Experience between the Opposition and Power" at Al-Salam Hall at its headquartes in Najaf city, in the presence of a political and academic elite. Sheikh Hamaid Ma’ala, head of the General Authority of the National Wisdom Movement, delivered a lecture in which he said that Iraq after 2003 had three options, the first, a strong state, the second, a non-state, and the third, the idea of division, where each of these options is supported by some of the components of Iraqi people.

He added that there are many factors that have impact  the political affairs in Iraq, first of them is international factor, which claims not to impose its vision on the Iraqi people, and the second is the regional factor, which represented by several neighboring countries that had  important role in the formulation of the political scene, and the third, is the  local factor, which is including the political direction of different Iraqi powers and components, this last factor is the most important factor, where it could be a strong point or a weakness one according to the degree of agreement of political powers about different political issues.  Sheikh Ma’ala confirmed that Iraq has exceeded the stage of danger of division, also he believe that generalization of failure in the administration of countries is a mistake, confessing that there is slow progress in the issue of arms inventory by the state and the fight against corruption as well as the disposal of terrorist cells.

In his response to the questions of the attendees, he said that the Iraqi constitution is good, but it needs important amendments, and the existence of a ruling bloc alongside with an opposition bloc represents a correct picture to solve many problems. We hope that there will be new alliances that represent peaceful coexistence within the balance of the existing political process.
