RCD has organized a symposium entitled “Normalization at Warsaw Conference: A Palestinian Vision”, in which it hosted the Palestinian Ambassador to Iraq Dr. Ahmed Aqel at Sergio de Mello Hall at RCD's headquarters in Najaf.

The Ambassador gave a lecture on the nature of the Palestinian-Iraqi relations, their developments and their impact on the regional and international situation.

He said that the Israeli and American vision is based on the necessity of implementing what so called the Deal of the Century, which is not only against the Palestinians but also the whole region, in that regard he stressed that the normalization of relation among Arab and Islamic countries and Israel should be based on the Arab initiative, which was presented at the 2002 - Beirut Summit and impose on the Israeli withdrawal from the Arab occupied territories in 1967.

He added that Trump and Netanyahu believe that normalization with Israel could be done before reaching a solution for the Palestinian issues, so they try to convince Arab states that normalization will encourage Israel to withdrawal from Arab territories.

The ambassador said that terrorism sought to deflect the compass of the conflict from Israel to Iran after the Arab Spring. Therefore, according to the American vision, the Arab countries must ally themselves with Israel because it is the possible force to confront Iran. The Israelis are also putting obstacles in the way of normalization of the relations, mainly the cultural and ideological position of the Muslim Arabs towards Israel and the Jews, adding that there is an American pressure on the Arab and Islamic countries to change some curriculum by deleting the verses that speak of Jews and urges jihad against them. “Israel is now focused on Iraq regarding normalization and make great efforts to do so because it knows the importance of Iraq for Arab and regional equation” he said.

In his response to the questions of journalists at the conference that followed the symposium, the Palestinian ambassador stressed the absence of Palestinian personals within ISIS, praising the role of RCD and its efforts to give the language of dialogue between different sectors. The ambassador promised to strengthen ties and enhance the cooperation with RCD.
