"Iraq's Security and Economy: the Vision of Permanent Five " is the Topic of the 11th Session of RCD Forum 2019-Baghdad
RCD Forum 2019-Baghdad held a session entitled “Iraq's Security and Economy: the vision of P5 “ which attended by a large group of researchers, politicians worldwide.
The session was attended by the following prominent figures :
1. Bruno Obert, French Ambassador to Iraq
2 - Joey Hood, Deputy US Ambassador to Iraq.
3-Ramon Blakea, Ambassador of the European Union to Iraq.
4 - Haiwa Osman, Writer and Journalist, (MOD)
Mr. Bruno Obert has talked firstly, mentioning that there have been a fundamental changes in the past few years, such as the defeat of ISIS and follow a balanced diplomacy in Iraq, that represent the heart of the Middle East, which assist to achieve that victory. Where France has a major role as a member of the coalition against terrorism, as well as the provision of capabilities and training programs in order to stabilize the region.
The US ambassador said that the United States is doing nothing without coordination with the Iraqi government, and that the strategy has not changed since the time we signed the strategic framework agreement. The military presence is at the request of the Iraqi government, but now Iraq is strong and able to defend itself. "We did not use the land of Iraq to launch an attack and there is not permanent military presence in Iraq", he added .
While Ramon Blakeau said that the security of Europe does not start within the borders of Greece or Spain, but depends on the security, stability and prosperity of Iraq. ISIS is not only a phenomenon in Iraq but in Europe, and we cannot say that what is happening here does not affect our European countries.
This session was an important opportunity for the observers to review the policies of the great countries that drive the events, especially in the Middle East and interact with their representatives directly, and try to deliver messages to various forces inside Iraq and abroad, which may examine for the interest of Iraq's regional security and international stability.
