Seeking to achieve its objectives in supporting the democratic experience and promoting peaceful coexistence in Iraq, RCD participated in the annual forum organized by the Middle Research Institute (MERI) in Erbil, under the title "Exchange of Visions for a New Middle East".

RCD has participated in the forum by organizing the session (Building the State and Building the Nation in Iraq), which was the second of the seven sessions of the Forum, where it was managed by Dr. Talib Mohammed Kareem, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of RCD, with the participation of Mr. Adnan Al Zurfi MP, Mr. Luqman Faily, Iraq's former ambassador to the United States, Mr. Jaafar Aminki, member of the Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and deputy speaker of the Kurdistan Regional Parliament, and Dr. Yahya Al-Kubaisi, advisor to the Iraqi Center for Strategic Studies.

The session presented many historical visions and solutions for the process of building the state in Iraq, compared with the experience of building the state after 2003 and the current situation of the political process after the recent elections.

On the sidelines of the conference, RCD, chaired by Zaid Al-Talaqani, organized a number of visits and meetings with Kurdish politicians and elites in Erbil. Where RCD delegation visited the headquarters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and met there with Dr. Omed Sabah, the spokesman for the presidency of Kurdistan Region, then the headquarters of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and met with Prof. Saadi Bireha, member of the Political Bureau of PUK, and elite members there. The delegation also visited the headquarters of the Islamic Union of Kurdistan, met up with Dr. Hadi Ali, Deputy Secretary General of the party and a group of members of the Political Bureau.

 

It has been discussed, in the overall meetings, the results of the elections and the processes for the formation of the governments of the center and the region, also it has been praised the positive and neutral role played by RCD during the elections, which proved to all its independence and support for building the state of institutions.

 

On the other hand, during the cultural program organized by MERI Center in the archaeological fortress of Erbil, chairman of RCD met with Mr. Qubad Talabani, Vice President of the Government of Kurdistan Region, Mr. Nozad Hadi, Governor of Erbil, and Mr. Falah Mustafa, public relations official in the presidency of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, where they praised activities and  programs organized by RCD, and expressed their support for all RCD's programs which contribute to spreading the spirit of love and peace and supporting the institutions.
