Mr. Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, Minister of Water Resources, has confirmed in a symposium held on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at RCD in Najaf, to improve a program to address dams and develop structural projects in accordance with new global updates. Furthermore, he added that his ministry is ongoing to face external challenges and obstacles related to the water issue, which is organized by a number of international concepts and conventions approved by the international community.

In regard to the partnership of water resources with the Turkish and Iranian parties, he stressed on holding an agreement with the two countries regarding the tributaries and the diversion of the Karun River, the revenues of the feeding rivers within the borders, and insisting on holding a meeting regarding the Ilisu Dam, and its connection with the country's foreign policy.
In another context, Al-Hamdani confirmed on following up the abuses occurring on Tigris and Euphrates riversides such as throwing river waste that Al-Hamadani consider it as the major crimes against water in Iraq. Although he stressed that, the ministry has begun to take legal measures against abusers through cooperation with the judiciary. Morover, the minister promised that during this year, the ministry would start making the large dam in the Basra province, specifically in the Ras Al-Bisha area to eliminate the salt tongue, and there will be very large economic revenues through this project.
In the press conference held by the Minister of Water Resources, Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, Executive Director of RCD, has welcomed the presence of Mr. Al-Hamdani, mentioning the importance of holding such sessions in the specialized centers to discuss various files and axes in the public interest, adding the importance of the media's role as a partner in these dialogues.
After that, the Minister followed up on the needs and requests of some citizens directly, RCD adopted to organize their interviews with Mr. Al-Hamdani, as part of the main activities of his visit to the Najaf Province.
