A Delegation from RCD meets representatives of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Madrid, Rome
After the great successes that Al-Rafidain Center for Dialogue RCD had achieved at all research and political fields, and in order to complete its cooperation and preparations for holding its (Security and Economic Forum), RCD keeps building bridges of communication and integration with international institutions, both public and private, that contribute to the process of international policy-making, especially those who are related to the Middle East and Iraq.
Among the efforts that took place within this framework was a visit by a delegation from RCD, chaired by Mr. Zaid Al-Talaqani, to the headquarters of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Madrid and met with Mr. Nicolas Diaz-Pache, head of the Middle East and North Africa Department in the Ministry. Where Mr. Diaz-Pache talked about Spain's role in Iraq and the region, and its contribution in combating terrorism by Spanish forces that fight alongside the Iraqi Armed Forces, reaffirming that his country is keen to protect security and stability in the Middle East in light of the common interests, and that is the whole world views with deep concern the US-Iran crisis, indicating the value of Iraq's role in containing the crisis.
Moreover, RCD's delegation visited the Italian Ministry of foreign affairs in Rome, and met with Mr. Michele Tommasi, head of Programming and Analysis Unit at the Ministry. Mr. Tommasi expressed his country's hope to open prospects for cooperation with RCD by facilitating visas for Iraqi academics and researchers, and emphasizing that he is going to attend and participate actively in the upcoming RCD forum.
Mr. Al-Talaqani provided in both meetings a detailed explanation of RCD's work and its objectives that seek to reach common understanding among all actors regarding the affairs of the Middle East and to deepen the principle of trust and cooperation through serious and constructive dialogue, reaffirming the role of the international community in providing support for the unique democratic experience in Iraq by coordinating meetings and holding forums in cooperation with leading think tanks and institutes for they have greater ability to achieve developmental programs when compared with public institutions. In addition, Mr. Al-Talaqani indicated the importance of EU's involvement in the US-Iran crisis in order to contain it in coordination with Iraq, in light of Iraq's strategic regional importance and its overlapping interests with the neighboring states.
