Al-Rafidain Center for Dialogue RCD held a symposium titled "Future Prospects of Iraq-Netherlands Relations: from Friendship to Cooperation", on RCD's Sérgio Vieira de Mello Hall, in presence of H.E. Mr. Michel Rentenaar, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Iraq, and was attended by several academics, officials, and media professionals, along with the political advisor at the embassy.

Mr. Rentenaar reviewed evolving Iraq-Netherlands relations, and focused on several issues, most notably: security as the basic pillar of stability, internal migration (the crisis of IDPs) and external migration (the societal integration of Iraqi migrants in the European societies, especially in the Netherlands), and the demonstrations, the right to demonstrate, and the how to ensure freedom of speech and media.
The symposium was concluded by a press conference with Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, Executive Director RCD, in which Mr. Rentenaar affirmed the necessity of activating the industrial an agricultural sectors and expressed the willingness of his country to provide assistance for Iraq in these sectors, given Netherland's expertise in the area of modern agricultural equipment. Finally, Mr. Rentenaar reassured his country's support for the democratic process in Iraq with its efforts concentrating on achieving sustainable stability, because it is the basis to build both the state and the citizen.
It is noteworthy that the embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands plays an active role in activating the program of fellowships for Iraqi students who study there in the fields of agriculture and water resources.
