RCD has held a dialogue session entitled (Iraqi-British Relations: Reality and Prospects of Cooperation). During the session, the UK ambassador to Iraq Stephen Hickey delivered a lecture on the nature of the relation between the UK and Iraq, and about the role of the British government and its support, whether in the economic, industrial or militant field. He also pointed out to the magnitude of problems and challenges that Iraq went through after 2003, due to the absence of strong security institutions.

The session was followed by a conference attended by Dr. Hasan Latif Al-Zubaidi, Executive Director of RCD, who, in turn, welcomed this visit that he hoped to be another starting point towards special relations and cultural exchange, and to boost the relations in field of sciences and strategic research. The hosted ambassador pointed out to the importance of the last visit of Mr. Kazimi to the UK and its role in reactivating the British support to Iraq. He also highlighted the willingness of the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, to support Iraq through recognizing the historical responsibility of the UK in supporting Iraq’s government and people, and the UK endeavors to mediate between Iraq and the International Monetary Fund to get out of the economic crisis.
