Weekly Dialogue Summery – 11th Week
In addition, a discussion was made about the nature of the US relation with Iraq and its future reflections, and the question about the extent to which Iraq needs foreign troops on its territories. Within the same context, some confirmed that the Americans have initiated the negligence and weakness in monitoring and fortifying the Iraqi borders. In addition, discussions were made about the traditional situation through which the Educational system in Iraq is going, and a reference to the dialectic of nomadism and civilization, and their impact on composing the form of the modern Iraqi state, as well as the lack of price control in the markets. Lastly, we conclude by saying that Hisham Al-Thahabi is an Iraqi achiever, hope maker and a model that inspires the possibility of changing reality.
Conclusions:
· The most important challenge, whose priority equals the liberation of Iraqi territories of terrorism, is fighting corruption and eliminating it once and for all, including the mismanagement and the lack of professionalism at work.
· Iraq does not yet have all the essentials to defend its borders or completely deter any external aggression.
· Traditionalism in the Iraqi educational system will lead to educational outputs that do not keep up with the development occurring in the regional and international surrounding.
Recommendations:
· The mismanagement must be tackled and the work system must be corrected, and this must be among the government’s priorities in the post-ISIS stage, as this would lead to the phenomenon of widespread corruption.
· In order for Iraq to have a security stability, it needs to develop the army’s abilities through getting help from outside in terms of training, rehabilitation and re-equipment.
· The educational curriculum and the teaching methods in Iraq must be developed in line with those adopted in the world, through benefiting from the experiences of the developed countries.
Term Definitions:
Secularism: is to separate the government and political authority from the religious authority and the religious personalities. It also means that the government or the state must not oblige anybody to embrace or adopt a belief, religion or tradition for subjective reasons.
