Weekly Dialogue Summery – 14th Week
Some think that the most important obstacle of Kurdistan independence is the severe conflict among the Kurds themselves, in addition to the fact that Baghdad politicians have discovered the truth after getting closer to Erbil, that the latter imposes conditions on this convergence instead of developing conscious solutions that satisfy all parties. There was also discussion about the international position that rejects Kurdistan referendum. Some raised the question: does the consent of the international community make the independence of Kurdistan legitimate? Some refused the generalization when accusing the political class of corruption, however, there are people who disagree with this saying that the generalization is correct, as corrupts exist, and there are people who facilitated corruption, even if they did not steal. This means that everybody is involved in the corruption system. Another question was raised about the reason of postponing the investigation results regarding the fall of Mosul, in addition to commending the decision of forming a judicial commission of inquiry that deals with the issues of the Yazidi captivated women. Moreover, there were discussions about the widespread incidences of cheating on tests via communication devices, and lastly, the discussion about how sufficient the Iraqi production of wheat crop is for the local consumption.
Conclusions:
· There is an attempt to gather all terrorist forces in Kirkuk and its surrounding, and form a new component as anticipated by the Washington Institute for Studies of War few months ago.
· Iraq’s entry to the vicious circle of the Arab and regional conflicts will lead to negative results that profoundly affect it.
· There is a state of divergence between the Iraqi factions due to the lack of clarity of their visions, which puts Iraqi future, after ISIS, at risks of chaos and increasing divisions in the Iraqi body.
Recommendations:
· Baghdad and Erbil must cooperate to prevent any terrorist form or component in Kirkuk, for being highly important on all levels.
· Iraq must be neutral towards the surrounding crises, in order to keep good relations with all.
· Iraqi government should speed up launching a dialogue to reach a new vision of the Iraqi State for the post-ISIS stage, with the participation of all Iraqi components without exception.
