Weekly Dialogue Summery – 58th Week
Some see that the Iraqi position towards all the crises in the region did not get out of the general context of the Iranian position at any stage. Nevertheless, the current Baghdad government is accused, within the range of the electoral campaigns, of being affiliated with the US, which is something important for some bodies, reflecting negatively on the track of the Iraqi government in its foreign relations, especially after opening up to the Arab surrounding during the last period.
Conclusions:
· Many Iraqi politicians were not committed to deal based on the principle of the long-term international relations, rather according to personal desires that threaten the strategic relations of Iraq with the world’s states.
· The instability of Iraq’s foreign relations is due to the nature of the regional developments that prevent holding the stick from the middle, and not only due to the external underperformance of the government.
· The Iraqi’s ability to produce a pure Iraqi vote, rather than an echo of the neighbors is the only promotable electoral material.
· The struggle for the position of Prime Minister has transformed into a fierce struggle among the politician bodies, which creates a personified authority and collisions among the parliament council, the presidency and the local governments.
· There are many proposed solutions to tackle the corruption dilemma by national and international bodies; however, the interests of the corrupted politicians prevented the application of these solutions.
Recommendations:
· The government work must be sequential, in which the official starts where the previous official ends, rather than destructing and starting all over again, as was the case with the subsequent governments for the last fourteen years.
· The Iraqi government must act according to the principle of the strategic containment in its foreign policies, in order to deal flexibly with the regional changes that govern the foreign relations of Iraq.
· The necessity for all the political bodies to believe in the abilities of Iraq to advance and flourish through getting away from the affiliation to any external authorities, whether religious or political.
· It is better for the political bodies to compete to serve the citizen and build Iraq, and the government must highlight the important role of the Council of Ministers instead of only focusing on the position of Prime Minister.
· To fight corruption by developing mechanisms that are not subject to the authority of the corrupted persons, and engage international bodies to apply these mechanisms to ensure its effectiveness.
