The elections season is full of rumors, defamation campaigns and vilification of others. In return, an audience is hungry for scandals, as the social media became a place to exchange and publish different scandals of the candidates and the lists they belong to.

In Iraq, we are in front of a very big problem, as many of the society’s individuals enjoy publishing the politicians’ scandals, without taking into consideration the negative effects of this phenomena on the society in general and on the electoral behavior in particular. Some analyzed that as a reflection of the public frustration towards the political class, while others see that the origin of this phenomenon is the electronic armies of the same political bodies. The political parties want the audience to focus on the scandals instead of focusing on the elections and the corruption they established since years.

Conclusions:

·         The value and ethical base of the society is infected with a lethal “virus” due to the continuous self-flagellation, as there is a huge pressure on that base resulting in serious cracks.

·         The reimbursement of farmers is a new correct step by the Iraqi government; however, it needs to be expanded further.

·         There are invisible hands inside and outside Iraq that work to blow up all our reliable absolutes and take away the positive symbolism of the Iraqi society, creating a disordered society driven by the different currents.

·         The killing of a person in the position of general manager at the Independent Electoral Commission before the Iraqi elections is a threatening letter to the high institution controlling the elections.

·         The prevalence of ignorance among many politicians in the Iraqi state in addition to the absence of adopting the discipline criteria when appointing the ministers and senior officials of the state.

Recommendations:

·         It is the duty of the educated class to work for reviving the value and ethical base of the Iraqi society, and seek changing the tracks of the tense discourse, which was a reason for the deterioration of the value base in Iraq.

·         The Iraqi government must support the Iraqi farmer with all it can, as Iraq has the biggest cultivable lands that if restored, the Iraqi economy will recover.

·         To call for a corrective advancement with the participation of all the elites and societal leaderships to fight the currents aiming at shaking the value and ethical foundations of the Iraqi society and fortify them against any deviant ideology.

·         It is the government and all political bodies’ duty to create an atmosphere that prevents encroaching on the individual workers in each institution that deals with organizing the elections, as this is linked to the credibility of the electoral process and its results.

·         There is no choice for the Iraqis except getting rid of the abhorrent quota that led to the destruction of the organizational structure of the Iraqi State’s institutions.
