Weekly Dialogue Summery – 61st Week
Most of those who analyzed the Grand Religious Authority’s discourses stressed that they have different and very important dimensions, and it establishes a central and integrated view of the nature of the Grand Religious authority’s understanding of the political system and the elections as the most important political event. The Grand Authority has mentioned, in its discourse before the elections, key points; it starts with the dignity and freedom of the citizen enjoying a prosperous country in all fields, emphasizing as well the responsibility of the citizen towards his or her country, in addition to the importance of the elections criterion fairness in all their aspects.
Conclusions:
· The elections are part of the democratic journey or the political process, not all of it, as the absence of the other parts will make the elections lose a big part of their meanings, and it may turn into a cover and camouflage that create public complaining and reluctance to participate.
· The free and honest elections are a tool in the hand of the analyst to detect the understanding and nature of the Iraqi society in a better way, and to know the nature of its political directions during a very disordered era.
· There is no alternative of elections but chaos, the responsibility of building a homeland is on everyone regardless of their positions, and that the change does not occur directly but gradually.
· Most of the electoral programs are theoretical programs that are not applicable, since they propose objectives to develop the economy and increase the welfare of the citizen, without defining mechanisms to implement these objectives.
Recommendations:
· The elections must be a mean, not an end, as it is the path towards producing a leadership accepted by the society, and achieves its welfare, moving forward towards advancement.
· The sociologists and all the elites interested in the public dimensions must exploit the results of the elections and analyze them to know the directions of the Iraqi scene and the extent of intellectual changes that happened in it.
· It is necessary for all the powers who manage the electoral machine to provide the conditions enabling to make changes in the elections’ results, as much as the change made by the voter in the booth, and these conditions include a fair electoral law.
· Everyone, people and government, must preserve the elections fair that will produce, over the years, a positive exit that serves Iraq and its people.
· The political blocs must propose projects supported with plans of how to implement them, with a timeframe that can measure the achievement in the future.
