Weekly Dialogue Summery – 79th Week
Others responded saying that Mr. Al-Abadi had no choice in forming the government described as an opposing composition, which is a result of the partisan and sectarian abhorrent quota. Others see it as a cause for hope, expressing their hopes to get rid of it in the upcoming phase by choosing ministers and officials who have high competency and honesty enabling them to serve the Iraqi people entirely without looking to the so-called components and sects.
Conclusions:
· The lack of field-level follow up of the problems happening in the country, including Basra, is what has led to the increase and intensity of the crisis and the difficulty to contain and solve it.
· Many problems of this country are due to the policies of some political parties governing the country, aiming at serving their own interests.
· Burning the public and private properties in Basra aims at keeping the demonstrations away from their legal demands represented in the services, and putting the city in the cycle of violence and threatening its societal peace.
· Many breaches against human rights have been recorded in the demonstrations of Basra, which led to several victims of civilians.
· Attacking the headquarters and employees of the international missions and consulates in Iraq reflects a negative image of the Iraqi State, and it will hugely affect the high interests of Iraq.
Recommendations:
· The regular oversight is the basis of the successful administrations all over the world, and the influence of the oversight increases in the government work due to too many details and for being linked with the public right of people.
· The voice of the national parties must be the highest in the political equation in Iraq, and they should be able to protect the homeland and the citizen from the abuse of the corrupted.
· The public and private properties must be preserved, and the demonstrations commissions must have a role in achieving this, to prevent the opportunists from manipulating the demonstrations to achieve their interests.
· The Iraqi government must prevent the violations against the human rights in general, and to prevent this specifically when the demonstrations happen in the country.
· There is a responsibility on the societal leaderships and governmental bodies in protecting the international missions and the diplomatic representatives of states in Iraq, as the latter represents a gate for Iraq’s relations with outside.
