Weekly Dialogue Summery – 90th Week
Some specialists see that the above is absent in the plans developed by the decision makers of the country. The danger of the expanding population gets worse due to the fact that Iraq is entering the demographic window when the rate of youth becomes 60 percent of the population, which is an economically active segment, which entails a clear vision of the population increases within the development and organizational plans of the activities of the society, and harnessing its human energies.
Conclusions:
· There are steady increases in the Iraqi populations that may reach to the surplus population during the next few years.
· The high rate of internal and external population movements in the country is an indicator to the instability of the social situation in the country.
· The deteriorated environmental reality is reflected negatively on the quality of the Iraqi citizen’s life, especially the vulnerable people whose rate is huge in Iraq.
· There is a need for developing databases of the population, and designing them in a way that fits the needs of the Iraqi society based on the relevant international bases.
· The different sectors in Iraq do not focus on investing the social capital, which is the basis of the work of the economic and services sectors in the states of the world.
Recommendations:
· It is necessary to develop programs and long term plans to turn the population increases from a burden on the development into a productive force representing a positive and effective motivator in the future development process.
· It is necessary to study the reasons of the internal and external migration of people, and develop realistic solutions in a way that fits the nature of the Iraqi society.
· It is necessary to take care of the environment to achieve a sustainable development leading to the interaction among the people, the climate changes and the economic development, in addition to giving enough space for taking care of the vulnerable segment in the society.
· It is necessary to give attention to the researches and studies, and build a population database, in addition to consolidating the wide and effective partnerships between the government institutions and the local and international organizations.
· The civil society organizations must take their role in developing the social capital in the country through adopting international developed programs for this.
