Weekly Dialogue Summery – 94th Week
Within the same context, some interlocutors direct the compass of the dialogue towards an analytical direction, highlighting the extrapolation of the American president visit in Al-Asad militant airbase and attempting to link the visit with the last American position to withdraw its troops from the Syrian territories, and the extent of its influence on the Iraqi security. In addition, some expressed suspicions about the security justifications by the American government for the visit of its president in this way in Iraq.
Conclusions:
· The political tensions in Iraq are what governs the situation and works to get it out in a way that is commensurate with the interests of specific factions within the Iraqi and regional political poles.
· Iraq does not take the controlling position that allow it to react strictly to most of the states, especially the United States, because there is a security agreement between the two countries.
· There is an increase in the phenomenon of the outflow of minorities from Iraq to the European states in a way that reflects the course of the events in the Iraqi scene to unknown directions.
· There is a huge divergence in the Iraqi political opinion about the dealings of some states with Iraq regarding the Iraqi sovereignty during the last years.
· Iraq needs to reactivate its diplomatic tools in the same power used and mobilized in the militant tools when facing terrorism.
Recommendations:
· The Iraqi media must be the primary actor in developing the positions clearly, reflecting the facts as they are to the audiences without distortion.
· Iraq is still going through a difficult post-ISIS phase, and it needs good relations with the major states and the neighboring states to achieve its interests.
· The government must develop real solutions to the phenomenon of the outflow of minorities from Iraq, and the civil society organizations and the social leaderships must cooperate with it to protect the minorities and provide a national climate that guarantees the rights of everybody.
· The Iraqi political opinion must be unified towards protecting and respecting the Iraqi sovereignty by all the other states, and the national identity must be the starting point.
· In the state administration, it is important for the government to know its priorities and to work on balancing its tools according to the requirements of each stage.
