RCD Receives the Ambassador of the European Union in Baghdad Martin Haute
he foreign relations of Iraq were an important focus in the symposium, and the necessity to be a neutral country and take advantage of its middle position to be the meeting point of opposites, and to be a country with positive neutrality. The ambassador also touched upon the Iraqi economy and the crises afflicting it, and the government’s efforts to address these crises and the reluctance that occurred. He also addressed diagnosing deficiencies and developing initial solutions to address them and the obstacles that prevent this, as well as talking about the development programs and the need to involve the Parliament to provide legal cover to address the imbalance. The ambassador also expressed his support for the Iraqi elections to be organized next year, and the establishment of programs that supplement that electoral process, and the need to take place in an appropriate environment at various levels.
In the press conference attended by Dr. Hassan Al-Zubaidi, Executive Director of RCD, the ambassador confirmed that the European Union deals with Iraq as a sovereign federal state, and believes in the right of Iraqis to manage their affairs and solve their problems by themselves away from negative foreign interference, stressing the need to invest money borrowed from abroad, as well as overcoming the financial crises currently plaguing the country.
