Al-Rafidain Certer for Dialogue RCD participates in the annual forum organized by the Middle East Research Institute MERI in Erbil under the title: “Exchange of Visions for a New Middle East”, in order to achieve its goals of supporting the democratic experience and promoting the peaceful coexistence in Iraq.

The participation of RCD was represented in organizing the session titled: “Building the State and Building the Nation in Iraq” which was the second session of the forum’s seven sessions. The session was moderated by Dr. Talib Mohammed Kareem, Vise-Chairman of Board of Directors of RCD; Adnan Al-Zurfi, Member of Iraqi Parliament; Mr. Luqman Al-Faili, Former Iraqi Ambassador in USA; Mr. Jafar Eminki, Member of Political Bureau of KDP and Deputy Speaker of Kurdistan Parliament and Dr. Yahya Al-Kubaisi, Consultant for the Iraqi Center for Strategic Studies.    

It has been discussed many visions and historical solutions for the process of state building in Iraq compared with the experience of state building after 2003 and the current position of the political process after the recent elections.

On the sideline of the forum, RCD, chaired by Zaid Al-Talaqani, organized a number of visits and meetings with Kurdish politicians and elites in Erbil, where RCD delegation visited the headquarters of KDP, and met there with Dr. Omed Sabah, the spokesman for the presidency of Kurdistan Region, then the headquarters of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and met with Prof. Saadi Bireha, member of the Political Bureau of PUK, and elite members there. The delegation also visited the headquarters of the Kurdistan Islamic Union of, and met up with Dr. Hadi Ali, Deputy Secretary General of KIU and a group of members of the Political Bureau.

In the overall meetings, it has been discussed the results of the elections and the processes of the formation of the governments of the center and the region. Also it has been praised the positive and neutral role played by RCD during the elections, which proved to all its independence and support for building the state of institutions.

In the same regard; within the cultural program that MERI organized in archaeological in Erbil Citadel, the Chairman of RCD has meet with Mr. Qubad Talabani, Vise-President of the Government of Kurdistan Region; Mr. Nozad Hadi, Governor of Erbil and Mr. Falah Mustafa, Public Relations official in the presidency of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, in which they praised activities and  programs organized by RCD and expressed their support for all programs of RCD that contributes to spreading the spirit of love and peace and supporting the institutions.
