RCD Holds Seminar on Fiscal Policy and the 2023 Budget

The seminar discussed the Emergency Support Law and the 2023 general budget. Dr. Kamil Alawi first reviewed Iraq's fiscal policy. Then he presented an important reading of several key topics, including the Financial Management Law, the general budgets of previous years, and the issue of financial allocations in relation to the capacity of executive bodies. Dr. Alawi also provided a detailed analysis of the Emergency Support Law, highlighting the most prominent economic problems that have arisen from it.
For his part, Dr. Nabil al-Marsoumi presented an in-depth analysis of the concerns surrounding the 2023 general budget and the reasons for the delay in its ratification. He also reviewed the most significant stalled projects that are hoped to be completed with this budget. Dr. al-Marsoumi proposed realistic solutions for the most pressing economic and financial challenges, stressing the necessity of developing and diversifying the economy by increasing investment in strategic projects. This, he argued, would advance the economic reality, create job opportunities, and combat unemployment.
