Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Dr. Mohammed Tamim, Discusses Sustainable Development at RCD

The seminar addressed numerous areas concerning the Iraqi social, political, and economic landscape. A primary focus was the Federal General Budget Law currently before the parliamentary finance committee, including its related complexities such as the triennial budget framework and the fixed oil prices stipulated in the legislation. The Minister also outlined his ministry's agenda for the upcoming phase and the challenges it faces, namely addressing issues such as population expansion and the housing crisis.
Dr. Mohammed Tamim also pointed to the problems of Kirkuk Governorate and the political dimension of its file, particularly its status as a disputed territory. Furthermore, the discussion touched upon a number of issues related to the political process, chief among them the current Iraqi Constitution and the electoral law, which the influential political blocs in the Council of Representatives voted on. Other topics included the selection of the Board of Commissioners for the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) and the nature of political alliances in the next stage.
This seminar is part of the annual Ramadan evenings hosted by Al-Rafidain Center for Dialogue, aligning with its scientific and research activities and its mission to discuss the most prominent political, economic, social, and cultural issues concerning the Iraqi state.
