The UK Ambassador Discusses Bilateral Relations at RCD

His Excellency the Ambassador spoke on a range of issues concerning Iraqi-British relations, including his visit to the city of Najaf. He highlighted its political and social importance as a center of great religious and historical heritage, noting that Najaf holds significant significance in British considerations.
Mr. Bryson-Richardson stated that one of the most important challenges in the Iraqi-British relationship is the security file and combating terrorist organizations like ISIS. He pointed out that his government had previously supported Iraq in its war against the ISIS terrorist organization and expressed hope that those efforts would culminate in future support for investment and infrastructure projects.
In response to questions from the audience, particularly regarding his government's position on Iraq's Development Road Project, the Ambassador replied that his government places great importance on Iraq's political, economic, and investment stability. He expressed his hope that political factions in Iraq would resolve outstanding issues such as the federal budget and the relationship between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region. He also warned against Iraq's continued reliance on oil, stating, "Iraq cannot depend on oil for a long time, and its governments must plan to build a future strategy to provide alternatives."
This seminar is part of the periodic sessions hosted by Al-Rafidain Center for Dialogue (RCD), aligning with its scientific and research activities and its mission to discuss the most prominent political, economic, social, cultural, and religious issues.
