Al-Rafidain Center for Dialogue (RCD) held a dialogue session titled "Development Prospects in Iraq's Foreign Relations: Towards a New Economic Diplomacy." The event hosted Engineer Mohammed Sahib al-Darraji, the Technical Advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister. Moderated by media personality Safaa al-Sultani, the session took place at the Sérgio Vieira de Mello Hall in the Center's main headquarters in Najaf, with a diverse attendance of academic and social elites, as well as business leaders.

Mr. al-Darraji addressed a number of topics, including the importance of building an economic doctrine to help guide the Iraqi economy and create a balance between the public and private sectors. He also pointed to the significance of the "Sovereign Guarantees" initiative launched by the current government, which aims to localize Iraqi industry.

Mr. al-Darraji touched upon the necessity of establishing a firm economic diplomacy that can rise to the level of external challenges and pressures amidst frequent regional and international shifts. He stressed the importance of providing a safe and attractive investment environment, particularly for Iraqi investors. The discussion also covered other key topics such as the Development Road project and sovereign guarantees.

This session is part of a series of meetings held by Al-Rafidain Center for Dialogue across all fields, especially economics, diplomacy, and local affairs, in a manner that contributes to state-building and the creation of a new economic diplomatic identity.
