Al-Rafidain Center for Dialogue (RCD) has announced the publication of a significant new volume titled The Seven Pillars: The Real Causes of Instability in the Middle East.

Edited by Brian Katulis and Michael Rubin—associated with major Washington-based policy institutes—and translated into Arabic by Hussam Nabil Taha, this book features contributions from seven distinct researchers.

The book is described as a major scholarly work that moves beyond the "ready-made answers" and intuitive clichés that dominated political discourse following the 2011 Arab Spring. Instead, it provides a deep analysis that probes the root causes of the region's crises and offers a structural diagnosis, using statistical data to identify latent flaws in the basic infrastructure of Middle Eastern regimes.

The volume addresses several critical pillars responsible for the region's volatility:

·        Legitimacy: The crisis of political legitimacy and governance.

·        Religion & Ideology: The role of Islam, the influence of Islamists, and shifting cultural ideologies.

·        Social Infrastructure: The state of Education and the evolving concepts of Citizenship.

·        Economics: The urgent need for structural economic reform across the region.

This publication is part of RCD’s ongoing commitment to printing and distributing high-quality, rigorous academic research. By supporting scientific, intellectual, and cultural efforts in the country, the Center aims to provide deep insights into the structural challenges facing the Middle East.
