Al-Rafidain Center for Dialogue (RCD) has announced the publication of a new translated volume titled The Rise and Fall of OPEC in the Twentieth Century.

Authored by Giuliano Garavani and translated into Arabic by Hussam Nabil Taha, this book sheds light on the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its pivotal role in shaping the global energy landscape and economy.

The book presents an in-depth study of the organization's journey since its founding. It tracks OPEC’s historical evolution, economic roles, and political maneuvers, leading up to the complex challenges it faces today.

Garavani provides a comprehensive analysis of how OPEC transformed from a dominant player capable of stabilizing (or disrupting) the oil market into an organization grappling with internal and external pressures. The study covers:

·        The Golden Age: OPEC's ascent to power and its control over global pricing.

·        Western Influence: The impact of major Western oil companies on OPEC policies.

·        Geopolitical Shifts: How global political changes have affected the efficacy of the organization's decision-making.

This publication underscores RCD's ongoing effort to print and distribute high-quality research, studies, translations, and articles. The Center aims to support the scientific, intellectual, and cultural development of the country with professionalism and accuracy.
