The Iraqi Economy After 2003: A Study of Reality and Future Strategies

The critical importance of economic development is well-established among specialists, and its decisive, central role in nation-building and societal advancement is undeniable. It is not feasible to achieve political development or to elevate the political consciousness of a populace without first realizing economic development. Similarly, democracy cannot function according to its proper mechanisms in the absence of economic progress. Indeed, all nations that possess a sophisticated democratic system are found to have been preceded by an advanced economic system. The connection between political prosperity, embodied by a genuine democracy, and economic evolution is an organic and inseparable bond; one cannot be detached from the other.
