Al-Rafidain Center for Dialogue (RCD) has released a specialized volume entitled The Central Bank of Iraq: Roles, Tasks, and Future Options. This publication marks the launch of a broader RCD scientific project aimed at evaluating the performance of key Iraqi ministries and institutions, diagnosing their challenges, and proposing objective roadmaps for reform.

Reflecting its strategic importance as the nation's monetary authority, the book was prepared by a select group of economists and monetary policy experts. This includes prominent professors from the Universities of Baghdad, Al-Mustansiriya, Kufa, and Basra, ensuring a blend of academic rigor and practical policy analysis.

The book provides a thorough examination of the bank's evolution and its critical functions within the modern Iraqi economy:

·        Historical Evolution: A detailed review of the bank’s founding, its periods of independence and external dependence, and its transformed role in the post-2003 era.

·        Operational Framework: An exploration of the bank's primary objectives, functions, sovereign tools, and internal departmental structures.

·        Sustainable Development: Analysis of the bank’s projected role in driving national development and its strategic plans for the future.

·        Security & Stability: A look at the procedures implemented to maintain monetary stability and the bank's efforts in combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

·        Institutional Governance: An evaluation of the bank's complex relationship with Iraq’s legislative and executive branches.

This volume serves as a vital reference for policymakers and scholars looking to understand the mechanics of monetary policy in Iraq and the future trajectory of its central financial institution.
