Al-Rafidain Center for Dialogue (RCD) has announced the publication of a significant new translated work titled Understanding Religious Violence: Radicalism and Terrorism in Religion Explored via Six Case Studies.

Authored by James Dingley, Chairman of the Francis Hutcheson Institute (UK), and Marcello Mollica of the University of Pisa (Italy), the book was translated into Arabic by Ali Al-Haris.

The book provides a bold attempt to crystallize a scientific and precise understanding of religious conflicts throughout history. It tackles complex themes including:

·        Theoretical Foundations: An exploration of classical social theory regarding religious violence, terrorism, and the concepts of war and objectivity.

·        Contemporary Case Studies: A detailed examination of modern religious terrorism.

·        The Uyghur Question: A specific focus on the religious independence movement in East Turkestan (Xinjiang), offering sociological and linguistic insights into the Uyghur Muslim minority.

·        Identity Politics: Analysis of ethnic and religious minorities, marginalized identities, and the dynamics of nationalism.

RCD presents this work as a professional, unconstrained academic inquiry into the reality of religious friction and component struggles within societies. It serves as an essential entry point for understanding the current religious landscape and inter-communal conflicts in the Arab world and beyond.
