Social Protection and Fighting Poverty in Iraq — New RCD Study

The book addresses the current reality of social protection and anti-poverty efforts in Iraq amidst escalating economic and social challenges.
The study aims to provide a deep scientific analysis of the institutional and legal frameworks of Iraq's social welfare system. To achieve this, it draws upon leading international experiences to formulate a more efficient and equitable national vision, specifically analyzing the models of:
· Sweden (The Nordic Model)
· Singapore (The Developmental State Model)
· Brazil (Targeted Cash Transfer Model)
The book provides a comprehensive theoretical framework and a dedicated chapter on the evolution of Iraq's support system both before and after 2003. It critically examines key components of the Iraqi safety net:
· Social Safety Nets (SSN): Cash assistance programs for vulnerable groups.
· The Public Distribution System (PDS): An analysis of the Ration Card system, which remains the largest food subsidy program in the country.
This publication underscores RCD's ongoing effort to print and distribute high-quality research, studies, translations, and articles. The Center aims to support decision-making institutions and the scientific, intellectual, and cultural development of the country with professionalism and accuracy.
