The Economic Reform Committee of the National Sovereignty Initiative,
The committee presented numerous key recommendations. Foremost among them is the amendment of certain constitutional articles to redefine the relationship between the oil sector and the Iraqi national economy, regulate the economic relationship with the Kurdistan Region, and restructure select public institutions. Further recommendations include the revitalization and support of the private sector, the expansion of private banking activities, and a concerted effort to combat financial corruption, among other necessary steps to overcome recurrent crises and rectify the performance of Iraq's economy.
During a ceremony honoring the committee's chairman and members, the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ali Abdul-Amir Allawi, commented on the obstacles facing the economic sector, particularly within the domains of energy and oil. He commended the efforts of Bahr Al-Uloom Forum and the National Sovereignty Initiative, which sponsored the committee's formation. The event was attended by the initiative's patron, Dr. Ibrahim Bahr Al-Uloom.
