A meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, "Qubad Talabani”
Within the leaders' meetings, which was one of the activities of the RCD Forum 2019 - Baghdad, a dialogue session was held with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Mr. Qubad Talabani, which included discussing the political situation in the region and its relationship with the Center, and some other commercial and social issues that link them together.
Mr. Talabani believes that indicators of freedom in the Kurdistan region have increased, such as expression of opinion, strikes and the emergence of political opposition. And from his point of view this increase requires a scientific predictive monitoring. He also points to the necessity of discussing the governance issue in Iraq, and finding ways that can make it rational. Mr. Talabani believes that the government needs a road map, and a realistic and real vision in order to implement responsibilities, without which the ministry will turn into mere spoils or political gains.
On the other hand; Regarding the issue of the presence of foreign forces in Iraq; Mr. Talabani called for following up on the readiness of the Iraqi forces, and noting the experience of the American withdrawal in 2011, which led to serious repercussions, that dragged the country into the war with ISIS, and the subsequent losses, calling to consider the assistance provided by the American forces in order to eliminate ISIS.
Concerning the situation in Kurdistan, Mr. Talabani sees a need for convulsionary between the two main parties, with considering a new vision for the economies of both Kurdistan and Iraq. He also called for the necessity of strengthening social bonds between the citizens of the region and the rest of the citizens of Iraq, and the necessity of exchanging visits between athletes, writers and elites, in order to guide the situation away from the politicization of society. Emphasizing, at the same time, to develop commercial relations between the Center and the region, in order to enhance internal trade.
