The Role of Youth in Changing Iraqi Politics” is the Title of Tenth Session of RCD Forum 2019
The tenth session of RCD Forum 2019 – Baghdad has discussed the role of young people in development. Mr. Akram Al-Assaf, Chairman of Nahdat Jeel Party, has paid tribute to the resilience of youth in spite of frustration, saying that holding RCD forum with its youth efforts is the most visible proof of their abilities in development.
Mr. Baligh Abu Kalal, the Executive Secretary of National Wisdom Movement, has expressed his optimism towards the role of youth, saying that the model of RCD Forum is the best proof of their potential. He also said, “The aim of joining parties by those youth is for self-realization or for protection and promotion, otherwise, most of them are not willing to enter politics filed.”
From his side, Dr. Omied Sabah, the Advisor to the President of Kurdistan Region, confirmed that the faith, inside the Kurdistan Democratic Party, in the role of youth is true. While Dr. Ali Al-Attar, the Chairman of the High Committee for Development of Education in Iraq, pointed out that searching for the identity or losing it, for youth, is the most clear phenomenon, and if the State’s government, organizations and institutions want to make the promising change, they must work on developing youth in a complementary and integrative manner.
Meanwhile, Maria Fantappie, the Iraq program director at the International Crisis Group, maintained that, although some parties allow youth to work in politics; however, the decision is not in their hands and that most of centers exploit those youth.
