Weekly Dialogue Summery – 16th Week

Happy Eid and Victory to all Iraqis. We start our dialogue by saying that there is a huge impact of politics on the public perception of many issues, and we should benefit from the experiences of the countries and learn from them. However, some see that we work based on a proud culture that refuses to learn from the experiences of others. Some also see that the calls for reform are but logos and are not based on a firm institutional ground. Other people see that Erbil became unsecure for journalists due to threats of armed groups that belong to influential political parties, and achieving security in Mosul is related to the political work that should avoid the mistakes of the previous stage before ISIS in Mosul and eliminate terrorist incubators. In return, some see that the issue is too big to be solved politically due to its big dimensions, among of which is the social dimension that includes martyrs, abductees and displaced people.

Weekly Dialogue Summery – 15th Week

“Liberating Human before Land” is the slogan of the heroic Iraqi Forces. First, discussion will be about “generation displacement”, for being a biological and natural term, in terms of succession of generations among all creatures, and adapting it to the political environment in Iraq. Some see that the generation displacement is useless as transition in our country is only through inheritance. Also, the problem lie in the fact that inheritance is done within a limited chain. Some people dismiss the subject morphologically, saying that there is neither conflict of generations nor dialogue of generations, as the parties in Iraq, and the politic status, do not allow this to happen.

Weekly Dialogue Summery – 14th Week

We have no choice but living together. We start our dialogue by talking about ISIS announcement of “Al-Jabal State” in Kirkuk, which some see that it was coincided with the Kurds announcement of the independence referendum. Others commented that if ISIS really targeted Kurdistan with that announcement, would ISIS leave Iraq forever if the referendum was cancelled? There is also another view saying that the realities, information and the strategic impossibilities in the regions of Al-Hawaija and Kirkuk surroundings do not allow being a shelter for ISIS, unless there is an international external plan for this.

Weekly Dialogue Summery – 13th Week

Since 2003 until now, we die together. Should we not live together? The dialogue of this week focused on corruption, as some see that the corruption is legalized in Iraq within the legal texts, and the majority act according to the principle “position for royalty”. Also, the corruption was categorized into types according to different criteria, including the type based on the extent of corruption or the activity type, such as financial, administrative or political corruption. Furthermore, some emphasized the difficulty to fight corruption, since an empty hand has nothing to give, as everyone who participated in the political process after 2003, without exclusion, has consolidated the corruption in a way or another, and strengthened its pillars until it became a way of life in Iraq. Corruption has a strong will now, which is difficult to overcome because everybody calls for fighting corruption while they are involved in it. Everybody agrees on overlooking each other’s corruption.

Weekly Dialogue Summery – 12th Week

In every Ramadan, we have a tragedy, so when will we take a precaution against it? This is accompanied with a significant weakness in the performance of the forensic services, as the bombing traces are erased immediately without being analyzed. Also, there is a question about whether the Iraqi society is tribal or just includes tribes? Because there is a huge difference between the two, and the tribal strength is inversely proportional to the strength of the state, the more the law weakens the more the power of tribe increases and vice versa. In addition, there was a discussion about the inability of the returning Iraqi competences to serve the society due to their clash with a deteriorating system characterized by power and generality.

Weekly Dialogue Summery – 11th Week

The first thing to say in this week is that the “Other” is the woman who reflects our self. We are not required to convince each other about the validity of our thought; however, we are required to accept each other despite our different views. Some think there is a percentage of the political class who benefited from highlighting ISIS, making the fight against corruption a low priority. Also, an emphasis was placed on the fragility of state’s institutions and the lack of professionalism. Some see that there are good attempts by the government of Mr. Al-Abadi in correcting the work mechanisms of the state’s offices, facing enormous disruption that could get to the point of suspension.

Weekly Dialogue Summery – 10th Week

This week, we start by talking about the promised victory as the War Media Cell confirmed the consecutive victories and the near end of the war against terrorism. In addition, emphasis was placed on preventing any legislation that abuses the democratic system and leads to consolidating dictatorship of political blocs and parties. Moreover, a reference was made to the risk of manipulating the infrastructures of the Iraqi State, because of the ignorance and the widespread corruption, as most Iraqi ministries after 2003 do not work based on the ministry’s policy but in accordance with the Minister’s personal policy.

Weekly Dialogue Summery – 9th Week

During our week of Al-Rafidain, discussion was made about several topics regarding our homeland Iraq, including discussions about generating an effective and influential political product in exceptional conditions during the ruling phase of Mr. Al-Abadi, and emphasizing that monitoring authority is different than exercising it due to its pressures and ramifications. In addition, the huge decline in the Iraqi economy in favor of the neighboring countries’ products was highlighted again as well, with a reference to the confusion between the open market concept and the ways to divert to it.

Weekly Dialogue Summery – 8th Week

RCD dialogues are always full of hope, as discussions were made about today’s Iraqi promising Youth that is interested in knowledge and culture, which was compared with the youth advancement that happened in 1990s. Moreover, the interlocutors compared between the achievements of the political, secular and religious parties, distributing quotas of mistakes and failures that are, as seen by some, the responsibility of all those participating in the political process after 2003. Others pointed out to an imbalance in the government priorities of fighting corruption, as many of the state’s offices are of more corruption than the Electoral Commission, and priority should be given to that, in reference to the blurriness in the results of the voting session on the answers of the Electoral Commission.

Weekly Dialogue Summery – 7th Week

The Mesopotamians have always been calling for strengthening the concept of urbanism and citizenship to face the state of national superiority among the components of Iraqi society, and bringing attention to the Iraqi lost identity, as it becomes identified with the class to which this individual belongs. Therefore, we should look for a project that serves as a prelude that opens prospects for a common future, bringing together all Iraqi components. In addition, a vision was put forward suggesting that Iraq’s minorities call for abolition of the rights of the majority under the pretext that they have suffered injustice. In addition, a reference was made to the need for a realistic and positive address that focuses on the common interests with the neighboring countries and calls for economic cooperation with them.
