Weekly Dialogue Summery – 96th Week

Many topics were discussed during the week, including clarifications of the concept of the political party, which is defined, according to the academic studies in the political sciences, as a legal regulation seeks to reach the helm of power in the democratic systems, and practice governance according to a partisan political, social and economic program. Another definition is that the political party is a regulation practicing the democratic process inside the party by electing its members to take leading positions, and outside the party by participating in the elections in its different levels. The political party links, in general, a group of citizens adopting one political vision, which is the party’s visions, with the regime and the different tools of the state.

Iraq is the symbol of the demographic diversity and harmony in the region; therefore, the voice of harmony must be loud among Iraqis, since the Iraqi diversity has a uniqueness in terms of the nature of the relations among the Iraqi people in their different religions and sects. In addition, celebrating the holidays with Christians is an Iraqi occasion in which all Iraqis participate, just like all Iraqis celebrate the different occasions of Muslims, including Christians.

There are increasing voices condemning the visit of the American president in Al-Asad Airbase in the province of Anbar. In addition, increasing voices criticized the Iraqi government harshly towards its position of the visit. Some proposed a perspective or a reasonable analysis to the case, saying that the Iraqi government did its best and that the decision of Mr. Prime Minister refusing to meet with the American president in the militant airbase is the right thing to do.

Among the dangerous economic phenomenon suffered by Iraq is the inflation that may cause big problems during the upcoming years, due to the increasing rate of inflation accumulatively. This was evident in the statement of the Ministry of Planning, clarifying that the rate of annual inflation increased by 0.8% during November 2018. Some pointed out to the importance of developing economic plans and programs to face this phenomenon.

The multiple forms of the regimes do not deny the fact that the parliament systems are the best political systems in the world; however, they need a political maturity, awareness and a sense of responsibility among the political class and the audience in the same time. Also, they need a real, independent and honest electoral commission, and to stay away from the partisan quota. All the above are the conditions of a successful parliament system, and without them, the situation will turn into a quota system, in which the trophies are distributed among the ruling class and the corruption spreads widely.

Iraq desperately needs many studies and future plans to organize several core subjects, including the demographic dimension planning, as the specialists express their worries towards the amount of the increases of population in Iraq, which is still high comparing to the region’s states. Iraq occupies the highest rate of population growth among the Arab states, reaching 2.5% annually. The concern is due to the fear of a surplus population that reflects negatively on the country and the level of welfare of the society’s individuals.
